Ombudspersons

As part of our ongoing endeavour to make OLMUN a safe space where young students from all around the globe can exchange and grow together, OLMUN e. V.’s 2023 general meeting has created the position of two ombudspersons who are directly elected by the general meeting.

Their main task (apart from some monitoring functions) is to put together a team of trust persons for the conference ahead, to ensure this team receives appropriate training by our external partner organisations, and to lead this team throughout the conference. They also serve as trust persons to the Inner Circle and can, of course, be directly addressed by any participant of the conference before, during or after OLMUN in case of whatever issue to provide quick and decisive support.

Feel free to contact us at any time via ombud@olmun.org or to directly approach us during the conference!

  • School: graduated from Cäcilienschule Oldenburg in 2023
  • Hobbies: baking, politics and OLMUN
  • OLMUN-experience: My first OLMUN experience dates back to 2019 when I gained some initial insights in the conference as part of the Administrative Staff. Not only was I impressed by the fact that students could (apparently) organize such a large-scale event all on their own, I also immediately caught what we usually call the ‘OLMUN fever’. Hence, I decided to join the Inner Circle for the preparations of the next conference in order to more actively contribute to this extraordinary event.

During the following three OLMUNs — in 2020, 2021 and 2022 — I was given the chance to do so as a Housing Coordinator or, respectively, a Chief of Hosting, gaining further experiences as I enjoyed meeting and staying in touch with many of our international guests.

For OLMUN 2023, I was given the honour of being elected to the Secretariat as OLMUN’s treasurer, a position which I used to develop our awareness concept alongside then Secretary General Amélie Vocke. It is an incredible delight to see this concept bear fruit now, and I am more than thankful for the possibility of further elaborating it as this year’s ombudsperson together with Jonas.

  • School: Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i. Brsg.
  • Hobbies: reading, playing the piano, cycling, and … uhm … well … still OLMUN
  • OLMUN-experience: Why “… still OLMUN”? Well, because my first OLMUN was quite a few years ago in 2016, when I participated as a TV staff and member of the HSC’s crisis team. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of getting more and more involved in the conference’s organisation, being part of the Inner Circle since 2017 and serving as a Housing Coordinator in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. It has always been an incredible joy to connect with people both from Oldenburg and from around the world, and it is a particular delight to see that every year, I can discover new aspects of OLMUN and learn new things!

I am hence extremely grateful for the possibility of serving as this year’s ombudsperson alongside Marleen and looking forwards to another wonderful conference with all of you!
