United Nations Industrial Development Organization

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency of the UN, tasked with promoting the industrial development in developing states and economies in transition with a particular emphasis on inclusive and sustainable development (ISID). The relevance of ISID as an integrated approach to all three pillars of sustainable development recognized by the recently adopted 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Accordingly, the Organization’s programmatic focus is structured in three thematic priorities, each of which represents different aspects of ISID: Creating shared prosperity, advancing economic competitiveness and safeguarding the environment.
