The OLMUN

The OLMUN (Oldenburg Model United Nations) is a simulation of the United Nations where students act as representatives of their assigned country. Most of the participants come to Oldenburg from all over Germany and Europe, some even live in the USA or Asia. All together about 650 participants meet in Oldenburg in May/June every year which makes OLMUN one of the biggest MUN in Germany.

The OLMUN first took place in 2001. Every year high school students from Oldenburg organize the session all by themselves. The team has a secretariat to lead the preparations. The organization team organizes for instance facilities where the delegates can stay at, a newspaper and part of the chairing teams in all the committees.

The General Assembly is set in the Weser- Ems- Halle, a Congress Center in Oldenburg. The next two days are spent in the committees which are located in high schools all over town. During the days in the committee the delegates work with their prepared resolutions, try to merge them by finding compromises and discuss these new resolutions. The conference ends with another General Assembly session and a closing ceremony at the Weser- Ems- Halle.
